’Twas the Evening of Christmas, written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Elena Selivanova, echoes the familiar language and rhythm of Clement Moore’s beloved poem, but focuses on baby Jesus, who is the true hero of Christmas. Families will delight in this simple retelling of one of the most famous stories ever told.

’Twas the evening of Christmas, when all through the town,

Every inn was so crowded, no room could be found.

Tired Mary and Joseph, who went door to door,

At last found a place on a small stable floor.

For over 200 years, families have gathered on Christmas Eve to hear the much loved words of Dr. Clement C. Moore’s ’Twas the Night Before Christmas. This year, families can gather together to share the real Christmas story––the story of Jesus’ birth. ’Twas the Evening of Christmas echoes the familiar language and rhythm of Dr. Clements’ poetry, but instead of focusing on Santa, it focuses on the baby Jesus, who is, after all, the true hero of Christmas. All families will delight in this simple retelling of the most famous story ever told. With a cover that comes alive with foil and sculpted embossing, this book is sure to become a Christmas classic.

Written in the same rhythm as the famous 'Twas the Night Before Christmas this is a beautiful retelling of that classic but done God's way. With rich illustrations that can take you back in time to a time and place that holds our hearts in His mighty hands. Christmas is not about the world or its possessions. It's all about Jesus and the gift he brought down from Heaven to deliver to all of us.

Christmas gives me the warm fuzzies. To me, its not only about Jesus but about family and friends and the love we all share. Jesus gave up his life to show us that we could give up our lives for Him. To save us from death and give us eternal life. God gaves us His best when He gave us His Son.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own. (Posted on 11/13/2017)

I am excited about sharing Glenys Nellist's rendition of this well-loved Christmas classic with my family. For years, our family has read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and the Bible's story of Jesus birth during the holidays. This year I want to add this new classic, 'Twas the Evening of Christmas. Glenys did a lovely job rewriting the story to reflect Jesus' birth. Her rhyming is smooth and flows beautifully, the rhythm is consistent with the original story. The colorful illustrations add charm to the story. But, my favorite part of the book is the very end, where we hear sweet words from Mary, Jesus' mother. This would be a sweet book to share on Christmas Eve or morning. I received this free from Zonderkidz. (Posted on 10/25/2017)

Christmas is right around the corner... I think only 6 more Fridays until Christmas. This is a great book to pair with "Twas the Night Before Christmas" as they are very similar! This one is better though as it focusses on Christ! There is still great rhymes and the flow sounds very similar to the other story. I like the pictures in the book and the author hits the vital parts of the Christmas story. Parents this would be a great story to wrap up but allow them to open it up on Christmas eve night. (We have a tradition to open one present like that.) This book is not just for the kids... everyone can enjoy and appreciate it! (Posted on 10/23/2017)
