About the Bible:
It is hard cover with a bit of texture and is a little on the heavy side, but does lay flat when it is open. It has an elastic band to help keep it closed and a black ribbon marker to help you keep your place. The font is 10 point making it larger and easier to read. The print is crisp and clear on the cream-colored paper. The text is closer to the center of the Bible leaving no space in the center to journal but it has nice wide outer margins with plenty of space…approximately 2 inches. The front page has a place to write the name of the person to whom the Bible belongs, then a table of contents, alphabetical order of the books of the Bible and Epistle Dedicatory for the King James Version. The pages are a bit thicker than other Bible pages. It also features the words of Christ in red.

My Impression:
I have been looking for a no frills King James Bible in which to journal, so when I received the “KJV Journal the Word Bible” in the mail last week I was ecstatic. It was exactly what I was looking for. I have never been one to draw in my Bible but I am a note taker and write things that inspire me as I read. Since I love stamping and journaling I thought I might like to try my hand at using stamps and colored-pencils in my Bible. I have been doing a bit of experimenting and am finding that colored pencils (I use Prisma colored pencils because that is what I have) are the best medium to use for coloring and pigment inks for stamping, but “stamp-off” first to insure there is not too much ink on the stamp. Just remember when using pigment inks they need time to dry properly so not to smudge when you close the Bible. Also clear stamps are the easiest to position so that is currently my choice so stamps to use. My pen of choice for journaling is the Pigma Micron pens and Sakura Gelly Roll metallic pens also work well. They do not seem to bleed-through, but again they need time to dry/cure before closing the Bible or turning the page, otherwise it will smudge. I have not been brave enough to try dye yet. The cover has a bit of texture, but I think it could be easily embellished to suit your personality. All in all I love this Bible. I also love that it is the King James Version!

If you are a fan of journaling/note-taking or would like to expand to using pencils, pens, stickers, stamps and etc., this is the perfect Bible. It would also make a great gift for your crafty Bible loving friends.

Disclosure: I was given a copy of this Bible by the publisher, Thomas Nelson, through Harper-Collins. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.

If I were to be entirely honest, King James Version is not my favorite translation, as I find it much more difficult to understand, which is important to me in my bibles. Still, I did grow up with it, and there are those verses that are forever in my head in this translation, so I love having it to read back those old verses and to compare to other translations too. Other translations might be more reader friendly, but there is certainly beauty in these classic words. And while this is my preference, there are many people- like my mom- who still love and prefer this translation. For them, this is the perfect journaling Bible. The style is as classic as the words inside- a simple black, timeless. This makes it the perfect choice for both men or women.

With its larger print, it'd definitely a more readable option for those who need it. It is not an overwhelmingly large print as some I have seen in the past, but just the right size to see the words more clearly without taking 5 words to a page! The margins provide plenty of space for notetaking or for creating beautiful art...and with the larger font, it does provide a little extra room compared to other journaling Bibles on the market.

**Book received for consideration, all thoughts are my own. (Posted on 11/22/2016)
