The Plans I Have For You Devotional and The Plans I Have For You Journal are two books from the author and illustrator of The Plans I Have For You. The books are all written by Amy Parker and illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton.
(If you want to see my review of the original book, The Plans I Have For You, you can find it here.)

The Plans I Have For You Devotional is a hardcover book with full-color, coated pages. It is divided into 6 "sectors" with 15 devotions in each sector (for a total of 90 devotions).

In the devotional, there are some illustrations and wording from the original book, but there is plenty of variety to warrant owning both.

There is some overlap between the devotional and the journal - making them great as companion pieces. There is enough variety between that devotional and the journal that owning both would be good.

One of the ways this devotional is different from others I have seen is that there is a large variation in the length of the individual devotions. Some devotions are extremely short (as short as just 4 lines of text) and some are longer (up to 6 paragraphs). Many of the devotions are 1 to 3 paragraphs long.

The Plans I Have For You Devotional is unique and there is variety in the styles of the devotions, making it interesting for the reader.

The Plans I Have For You Journal is a paperback book with grayscale paper pages. It is divided into 6 "sectors".

This is not just a typical lined journal. The pages are illustrated (grayscale) and have a variety of verses and prompts. (And it's not all writing. There are places for drawing, too.)

Generally there is a two page spread featuring a verse and one or more related journaling prompts. It encourages reflection, writing, and doodling. The prompts are good and thought-provoking. There is a good amount of space to write without feeling overwhelming - good probably for ages 8-12 (maybe even up to 14). There are some illustrations and wording from the original book, but there is plenty of variety to warrant owning both.

Again, there is some overlap between the devotional and the journal - making them great as companion pieces. There is enough variety between that devotional and the journal that owning both would be good.

The Plans I Have For You Journal is unique and there is variety in the styles of the journaling pages, making it fun for the user.

The following review is for both the devotional AND the journal:

I Know the Plans is a brand new 90 day Devotional for kids by Amy Parker. The scriptures are taken from the NIV. The pages abound with bright full color illustrations by award winning artist Vanessa Brantley-Newton.

This new devotion uses scripture to help your kids understand that God has a plan for each and every one of them. The devotions range from one to tow pages in length. So your child can spend time reading them daily.

The devotional by itself is awesome. but the creative in me absolutely loves the journal. It is full of questions, writing prompts, places to doodle and more. you can use it as a companion wih the devotional or alone by itself.

I do recommend buying them as a set. I love this product more than any other kids devotional because of the creative potential it brings out. Another set of great products from ZonderKidz publishers.

I received a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Plans I Have For You devotional is the perfect for the new reader in your house that might still get overwhelmed by reading a lot. With fun graphics, varying fonts, and short (but to the point) messages, I found that this devotional was so great for my eight year old daughter. The Plans I Have For You is broken into six sectors: I’ve Got Big Plans For You, I’ve Given YOU A Purpose, I Don’t Do Things Small, There’s Nothing YOU Can’t Do, Find That ONE Thing, and What I Created You To Do. Each sector focuses on the reader’s specific gifts and purpose. I love that it introduces, from this tender age, that God has something special for each child to do and that He has given them the gifts to accomplish it.

This devotional and journal set has been the perfect fit for my eight year old as we are getting back into a good routine. She enjoys thinking through the questions and I love that she’s thinking through some big ideas. I think this bundle is great for ages 6-10.

God has a BIGGER purpose for all of us and that is just all there is to it. The quicker we realize that all of us have a mission as His children the better off we will be in this thing called life. According to Jeremiah 29:11 this is so true for each person not just teachers, preachers, and missionaries. For a young person this can be a huge turning point for them. Zonderkidz along with the author Amy Parker have put together a very engaging series to show our children how much they matter in the Kingdom and how important their job really is.

This is a 90 day devotional but in the series there is also a journal that I will soon tell you all about. Each devo entry is complete with a short lesson and scripture. The book is divided into 6 sectors or sections. Titled as follows: I've Got Big Plans For You, I've Given You a Purpose, I Don't Do Things Small, There's Nothing You Can't Do, Find that One Thing, and What I Created You to Do. This is a short journal with a mighty message and its perfect for 8-12 year old children.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. (Posted on 12/26/2015)

Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite verse in the Bible.

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I love it so much I chose it as my "life verse" and had it as my senior quote in my yearbook in high school. Ever since then I've focused on that and recited it whenever things don't go according to MY plan, which happens quite often!

It's such a significant verse in the Bible and one that's important to instill at a very young age. Kids need to know God always has a plan and while we may not see it now, it's definitely there!

The Plans I have you Devotional is a 90 day devotional with daily readings broke into six sections starting with "I've got big plans for YOU!"

The devotional is really well designed with cute fonts, illustrations and words that just jump off the page, designed to attract the young. It doesn't say the age recommendation but based on the content I'd say upper elementary.

Flipping through I really liked the emphasis on the word YOU throughout. It's hard to comprehend that the God of the universe cares for YOU so I appreciated the focus on that.

I liked the questions that were thought provoking to tie in to the Bible story and lesson shared. It's all about the application and in this case it's very well done! (Posted on 12/21/2015)

The Plans I have For You Devotional is part of Zondervan’s The Plans I Have for YOU! family of products. This 90 day devotional is filled with a variety of readings that should engage many kids.

I love how this devotion starts off by explaining that kids need to spend time with God in order to know the plans He has for them. The author even goes as far to say that they don’t even need this devotional to spend time with God. I love that this is in there because it made me feel more comfortable with the product as I didn’t feel like the author was just trying to sell the book, but genuinely wants kids to spend time with God.

I love the variety of devotions that are in this book. Each devotion is pretty short, but some are shorter than others. Some are more engaging asking questions or having kids do something while others are rather simple and just speak a truth to the child.

My only complaint with this devotional is the illustrations. They aren’t bad, but they feel really childish and unfinished. I’m just not that into the style of these. I love the cover, but the illustrations inside the devotional just don’t do it for me.

Other than the illustrations, I really like the devotional. I like the concept of it and the variety it offers.
