"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future."
- Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
The first thing that drew my eye to this book was the adorable illustrations by Vanessa Brantley-Newton. The cover illustration drew me in, and the interior pages did not disappoint. Each 2-page spread is large, colorful, and playful.
The book is written (in rhyme) as if God is speaking directly to you, the reader (or listener). It is meant to be an encouraging and inspiring book for 4-8 year olds, and I think it does a good job of it. (I might say the age range is more like 3-7 or so, though.)
The Plans I Have For You is deserving of a cozy spot on any family's bookshelf.

We like to say that we are all missionaries but when it comes down to it, it doesn't always feel that way. In an engaging rhyming verse we are prompted to look at occupations as part of our God appointed destinies. What a wonderful thing to instill in our kiddos that the desire to work in a certain field no matter what it is pleases God when we do it for His glory.
As an artsy person I loved Vanessa Brantley-Newton's mixed media type of illustrations. All the colors and patterns and whimsical faces combine to make the book a feast for the eyes while it is ministering to your heart.
This would be a delightful read aloud for your entire family. Every home library would benefit from the contents of this adorable children's book.

“The Plans I Have for You” is a children’s fiction book, written by Amy Parker. The beautiful illustrations were done by Vanessa Brantley Newton. I like that this book is written like a letter from God telling the readers about how He has different plans for each of their futures. At the very beginning is the verse Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know I the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It is in the form of a banner with diverse boys and girls holding it. They each are dressed as a different profession.
I like this book and I’d definitely recommend it for your young reader…or for parents, grandparents, teachers, or anyone who reads to children. I will definitely be reading it to my grandchildren!

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
This is the first time I've seen this verse specifically applied to children lives and Parker does it beautifully making it whimsical with rhymes that are catchy for little ears.
I really like how the word YOU is in all caps, larger than life and colorful to jump out at you from the page. It makes kids really focus in on the fact that they are special and God has plans for each and every one of them.
It's hard for kids to grasp the concept of God and his plans for them and I think the way this is applied to little ones lives is wonderful and the illustrations line up perfectly with the message.
The Plans I Have for You is a wonderful demonstration of God's love and plans for everyones lives and applying is perfectly to children. (Posted on 8/20/2015)

Such a telling verse that speaks right to my heart. We picked this verse years ago for our family verse. What is so funny is in all the years that followed we clung to it to get us through. When you get called into the ministry you go through so much and remembering this verse and holding it close to our hearts is what has gotten us through some very rough times. I love the fact that this verse was the basis for this awesome children's book. The words are so telling and so refreshing. And the illustrations are just beautiful.
God has a plan for His children--all of them--and that plan begins upon conception. Our children need to know and realize that they are special in the eyes of the Lord so much so that He created a special purpose for each of them. This book is geared towards the 4-8 yr age group and is available in hardcover and kindle versions. A precious book with a special message for our children!
