When Jesus taught His disciples the Lord's Prayer He used that same simplicity. It is a wonderful example of how we should approach the Father and an easy template to teach our children. Rick Warren and Richard Jesse Watson have taken these timeless words and added beautiful illustrations and thoughts that will encourage you and your children to not only learn this portion of Scripture but to also apply it in all situations.
I like that The Lord's Prayer: Words of Hope and Happiness is presented in this new board book format. This is definitely a book that will be read over and over in our house so durability in the hands of little ones counts!
I also appreciate the subtle way that Rick Warren puts the Scripture into repeatable segments and also includes a short thought on what that particular segment means. The King James Version is beautifully lyrical but often the verbiage is confusing to little ones (and sometimes adults). The illustrations are stunningly life-like and had us all mesmerized.
I heartily recommend this book to all families. If you are looking for a new way to help your kids learn the Lord's Prayer this book is a great resource.

“The Lord’s Prayer” is a children’s fiction board book. I love board books because tiny children can enjoy them without the fear of them tearing them to shreds. This storybook was written by Rick Warren, the well-known pastor of Saddleback Church. He has also written many adult non-fiction books, like “The Purpose-Driven Life”, and also Bible studies. The darling illustrations were done by Richard Jesse Watson.
In this book, Pastor Warren explains each line of the Lord’s Prayer so that a child can understand it…in only one or two sentences. Each section also includes a one sentence “Thank You” prayer.
I’d recommend this to any child. I’d also recommend it to teachers, librarians, parents, grandparents, and anyone else who reads to children.

They take each line and explain, in easy to understand language, what it means along with a line of thanksgiving. It not only teaches your child the Bible, but also teaches them prayer and praise.
The book its self is a beautifully illustrated hard-cover book and those illustrations don’t stop there…they continue through-out the entire book. Each page will be sure to delight your child as you read them the story of “The Lord’s Prayer”. The pages are board-like pages making it easy for your little one to grasp as they turn the pages and easy to wipe off from those sticky little fingers.
In my opinion, this is one of those “WOW” books.
Disclosure: I was given a copy of this Book by the publisher, Zondervan, Z Blog Squad, blogger review program, for an honest review. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.
