The Berenstain Bears books are instant classics, as far as I am concerned. These are books that I grew up reading and the new books in the collection (even though they are written by Mike Berenstain rather than Stan and Jan Berenstain), keep in line with the Berenstain legacy. The Berenstain Bears books are books that exemplify moral character, and I appreciate that.

The Berenstain Bears Easter Sunday is the newest of The Berenstain Bears books.

In The Berenstain Bears Easter Sunday we follow the Bear family as they get ready and head off to church on Easter Sunday. At church they sing Easter songs and hear a lesson from Preacher Brown on the Easter story. About half of the book is on the topic of eggs, bunnies, and chocolate - and what they have to do with Easter. In my opinion, the topic was addressed and handled in a way that is respectful of differing opinions.

The Berenstain Bears Easter Sunday is another great addition to The Berenstain Bears books...and a great addition to any family bookshelf.

The Berenstain Bears have been around since I was a little girl and I always love a new title from them! You can count on them for great life lessons and morals. My kids love holidays and so do I so we were really looking forward to reading Easter Sunday together. Now that I have two readers in the house, I let them tackle this book and read it outloud to me for a change!

The Berenstain Bears have some Easter traditions similar to ours like dressing in special Easter clothes. While we have always done this I don’t think I’ve ever actually talked to my kids about why. They just know they dress up on Easter. This immediately sparked a conversation about how Easter Sunday is special and different from any other Sunday. We wear bright, colorful clothes in celebration of the resurrection. At six and seven my older two are really starting to get this.

After church and hearing the Easter story the bears have an Easter egg hunt. This was another great opportunity to talk about secular Easter traditions, where they come from and how they tie in, or don’t, to Christian traditions. I like that they said it’s ok to have the Easter bunny and chocolate and other fun things but that it really doesn’t come from anything Biblical.

The Berenstain Bears Easter Sunday is a great book with our favorite characters to remind kids of the true meaning of Easter and while it’s ok to have fun traditions too, that isn’t what Easter is really all about. (Posted on 3/9/2016)

March has arrived and this year we celebrate our Risen Savior a day after my birthday! I love spring, I love Easter, I love Jesus!

This adorable Berenstain Bear book brings you to their Easter service at the Bear Chapel to celebrate Jesus! There is some great traditions in the Bears church service from and organ playing, to seeing stained glass windows, to the hymns the Bears sing. Depending on how your church services are run this book can create some great discussions about how churches do different things.

The story continues with a fun egg hunt and the Bears realizing more about spring and the true meaning of Easter. The book does have a hint of worry but as the book states, "But others thing that as long as you remember that Easter eggs and bunnies and candy don't really have anything to do with Jesus and Easter, it's okay." Meaning keeping Christ as the true reason for celebrating and not the other things!

Easter is a time to celebrate as we have a Savior who died and rose again! AMEN! So yes our family does have fun with eggs and candy but we do keep our focus on Jesus! Hope you think about adding this book to your library to share with your kids at Easter time.

Thanks Zondervan for sending me this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I was not paid for this review and all opinions are my own.
