The Kids' Devotional Bible is one of the most versatile Bibles for tweens that I have seen in quite awhile. One of the most important aspects is that it is easily readable by this age group. Reading comprehension is so important and the NIrV is written at a third grade reading level so the tween set should be able to read and comprehend what is before them.

Another thing that I like is the daily devotions. It is set up so that your tween will get a nice overview of Scripture by the end of the year. The weekday devotions give a portion of Scripture for reading then an insightful devotional message and an Ask Yourself question that could be used in conjunction with journaling. Finally for all the budding list-makers and box-checkers there is a place to check that you have read the devotion. (I personally get such a sense of accomplishment from that!) The weekend devotions are similar with daily readings and a devotional thought but then they have a section called Some Things to Think About and Some Things to Do.

All of the above is nice, but my absolute favorite thing is all of the black and white coloring book type of illustrations. They just beg the reader to add some color and inspirations of their own. I've been Bible Art Journaling for quite some time and I'm delighted to say that my tween grand girl is also interested in it. The Kids' Devotional Bible is the perfect way to get your tween started. Teaching your child to express their God given artistic talents while worshiping is a great way to increase time in the Word. There aren't wide margins but the illustrations do have a lot of white space around them that can be used to add your own expressions.

If you are looking for a new way to increase exposure and add enjoyment of Scripture reading time I would suggest that you take a look at the Kids' Devotional Bible. It's done in a black and white color scheme so it would be fitting for either a boy or a girl.

I received a copy of this Bible to facilitate my review. (Posted on 9/13/2016)

I get so so excited when a new Bible comes in the mail! I love looking through it and looking at the different translations! This particular Bible is NiRv and it is a good one for children to read with better understanding as they read. This Bible is a hard cover bible with over 300 devotionals inside the Bible. It retails for $27.99 on The devotionals inside the Bible is what makes me super excited to promote it. I truly believe that as a parent I have to model and teach my children who to dig into their Bible and let God show them something new each time. It takes practice and it takes some patience for many. The devotionals inside this Bible are simple. They have a scripture reading and a couple paragraphs to help you relate to the text an then a question to get your brain thinking. The devotional has a box to check in if you read it and it tells you what page to find the next devotional so you can easily find it.

I have the privilege of receiving this book for free but then I get stoked to pass it along to someone else to read. One of the ways I pass on and share the blessing of these books from Zondervan is giving them away as prizes at our monthly outreach night during our Interactive movie nights at my church. I can't wait to see who wins this great Bible.

Pray with me that the winner will be able to hear clearly from God and grow deeper and deeper in love with him! AMEN! (Posted on 9/4/2016)

Now that I have seven and eight year olds that are readers I really like them to read the devotions outloud for the family. It used to be hard to do this when they were learning to read because the message would get lost in their stopping and starting but now we can really utilize books like the Kid's Devotional Bible and get a lot out of it while practicing their reading!

This Bible is set up with 300 devotions. What I really like about it is the way they are spread throughout the Bible. They are set in relation to some verses in that chapter. Since my kids are still learning the books of the Bible at this age, it's really good for them to have the practice of looking up the verse, close to the devotional we are reading. It also goes in order of the books of the Bible. There are "weekend devotions" that are extras and then Monday thru Friday.

The weekend is nice because not everyone does them both days of the weekend. We usually don't do Sunday because we already went to church. However, the days are irrelevant to me. We just go in order from what we last read. These devotions are also a little different in that they are all about creation and involve extra activities that you might be able to do on the weekend and recognize God's creation.

The devotions are short and sweet which are good for elementary aged kids, especially since we do them right before bed.

I really like the "Got it" feature that allows them to further search through the Bible thus learning their book order to answer trivia questions themselves. They still need help with this but I can tell they are eager to learn it and really like these sections.

The book introductions are also helpful and I just read these as we start devotionals in each book. I have found that I am still always learning new things about the Bible so these are really interesting to me as well.

The NIrV is my new favorite version of the Bible since having kids that can read. I always liked the NIV and this is a simplified version with shorter sentences and words that are easier for kids to understand. The Bible can be difficult to understand so any simplification is helpful.

We have worked our way through several weeks of devotions and my kids are really enjoying them and we are all learning a lot together. We look forward to reading the Kids Devotional Bible for the entire year together! (Posted on 9/2/2016)

“Kids’ Devotional Bible” was sent to me free of charge, by Zonderkidz – a division of Zondervan Publishing – in exchange for my honest review.

“Kid’ Devotional Bible” is a NEW INTERNATIONAL READER’S VERSION Bible that is filled with devotions for the young reader. I like that it includes WEEKDAY devotions for a full year, and also 52 WEEKEND devotions. Each book is introduced with a short description that is written so that a child can understand it. Throughout we find GOT IT features, which are fun Bible trivia questions, to encourage searching the Scriptures to find answers. I also love that it includes a dictionary for common terms found throughout Scrripture.

I would recommend this Bible for, maybe Middle schoolers, on up. I like that it’s black, with chalkboard like pictures, so it would be suitable for a boy of girl.

I have written time and time again that it is definitely a good thing to buy your children a Bible. Especially after a few years you also need to update them. They shouldn't be 20 getting an update from their first tiny little New Testament that was bought for them as a tiny baby. So hear we are again reviewing another good solid teaching devotional Bible published by Zonderkidz, a division of Zondervan.

This is a great Bible to begin teaching your child all about Bible study and show them all that can be learned from it. Every page or every other page has a small devotional dedicated to the scripture listed in it. It also goes on to give a tiny Bible lesson explaining what can be learned in the scripture it outlines. The part I love the best about each devotional excerpt is the footnote at the end where it states where further study can be found. It teaches our children how to use their Bible to their advantage. Because the Bible isn't just for reading it is for studying, learning and applying.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. (Posted on 8/15/2016)
