“God Bless Florida” is a Christian children’s picture book, written and illustrated by Peter Francis. This is a board book, so would be appropriate for little hands. It is also written in a way that a young reader could read and enjoy. It has rhyme and rhythm, so I believe that little ones will enjoy having it read to them.
I love how, Henry, the little bear enjoys a trip to Florida, and tells about what he sees and experiences. He visits Tallahassee, Miami, Kennedy Space Center, and the Everglades, among others. He doesn’t mention Orlando, but it seems he also visits the Orlando theme parks.
I enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to children, and to those who read to them.

As he did in God Bless America, Henry wakes with the dawn and is raring to go. His bags are packed and the car is loaded for this long awaited trip. His first stop is in Miami where he climbs to the top of his hotel (seventy floors) and enjoys all the amazing views.
The next stop is the state capitol, Tallahassee. There he sees the government building and even has a chance to meet and shake hands with the governor. Then it is off to Daytona. Henry goes to the famous Daytona Motor Speedway and enters a race . . . and wins!
Then our little bear tours the Everglades on an air boat. There are so many amazing animals to see. After the beautiful Everglades, Henry's trip takes him to the Space Center. There he gets to see a space shuttle launch and even try on a space suit.
For his final Florida adventure he goes to a theme park and enjoys all the rides and characters. The evening ends with some spectacular fireworks. The next morning Henry stops for souvenirs and then heads home. Once he's home he remembers to thank God for the trip and all the wonders of Florida.
We're so delighted with this adorable series for little ones. It is a great way to introduce young children to geography with a state by state look at our magnificent United States of America.

In God Bless Florida, Henry the bear takes a trip to Florida. He travels to Miami, Tallahassee, Daytona, the Everglades, the Space Center, and a "park" (described similar to Walt Disney World without using the name) before heading home.
In each of the three books (God Bless America, God Bless Texas, and God Bless Florida), the first four pages share the same wording (with only the location description changed). The illustrations on the first four pages are very similar as well, with a few changes to reflect the location(s) of his trip. Again the last four pages of each of the three books are worded and illustrated very much the same. In God Bless America, a page or two from both God Bless Texas and God Bless Florida are copied into the main body of the book.
Although I don't think I would pay to purchase more than one of these books (because there is so much overlap with about half of the content being repeated), I do think that they are cute and I really like that Henry the bear ends his trip(s) by praying and thanking God for his fun vacations. I say that...but if one came out about my family's home state I sure would love to own it.

Henry the bear loves to go on adventures and visit famous places and Florida is on his list for the day. Florida is a state I've had the privilege of visiting so it was fun reading this book to my kids and point out and discussing the places I'd been.
Like the first book it's written in rhyme which makes it very catchy and easy to remember which is important with books involving geography and history because it helps with memorization.
The illustrations are adorable and bring to life these great places. When he sets off his bag is filled with the beach and sun filled things Florida is famous for. I like that he visits both historical places like monuments and capitals as well as fun places like the Daytona races and Disneyland. It's a great representation of the state covering all areas of interest.
I like that the book ends with Henry praying and thanking God for all the wonderful things in Florida. It's important to teach kids to say thanks when they pray and I always like my kids prayers to include what we did that day. God Bless Florida is a great addition to the Land that I Love Books and I can't wait to explore the next! (Posted on 5/28/2016)

Throughout the book you will find the flag of the state that Henry visits. I absolutely love that Henry gets on his knees after his trips and thanks God for all that state has to offer. A sweet series about a sweet bear and travel companion.
