This is a regular Bible made for young teen girls (though I’d use it myself). It includes a summary of the Old and New Testaments. Also, there are “Book Introductions’, which tell about who wrote the book, when it was written, where it takes place and some of the characters. There’s also a short synopsis of each book. “Dream Girl” allows life application. These are scattered throughout. We also see, “Bring It On”, which are little quizzes (only one question each) to help her get to know herself. “Is There a Little (Eve, Ruth, Isaiah) in You?” is self-explanatory…What do you have in common? “Words to Live By” are memory verses. “What Happens Next?” is a chance to tell the Bible story in her own words. And, “Oh, I Get It!” are frequently asked questions answered. In the back, where we would find an appendix, are conversions (THAT helps me!) and other needed items…like a read through the Bible chart, promises found in the Bible, and a place for notes. The features included were written by Nancy Rue.
As I’ve said, I would, myself, use this Bible for my own study. I would definitely recommend it for young teen girls!

What I liked about this Bible for a girl is the cover and the purple and pink text inside. While not all girls like these colors, I did find this Bible geared well to girls.
There are a number of features in this Bible from Dream Girl where girls are encouraged to imagine themselves in select Bible stories, to Bring it On! that asks a question with answers to choose from, and then verses to help encourage you.
This Bible is the NKJV version. I’m not going to factor the translation into this review because I know many individuals have different opinions and preferences.
When I was looking through this Bible and checking out the different features I found a typo on one of the features. While this typically wouldn’t be a major concern for me, this typo was in the example at the beginning of the Bible and then in the Bible itself, the fact that this is a Bible and many people put their trust in the words that are in it, I find this very concerning.
While my hope is this is the only typo in the Bible, it makes me question the attention and editing of the Bible. While I’m not sure this would keep me personally from using this Bible or having my daughter use it, with the variety of Bible choices out there, I may look at alternatives.
While this Bible has some really neat features, I was disappointed to find a typo in one of the features. This concerns me and makes me wonder if there are any other typos that weren’t caught.

Perfect for any girl ages 8-12 years old. Love the ink it is printed in, purple and some pink. There are so many different features to this Bible that a young girl could get lost reading and doing all of them. So this Bible will interest her greatly. Some of the different features are Dream Girl, Bring It On, Oh, I Get It!, Book Intros, Treasure This, and many more. The beautiful colors and the great features will definitely appeal to young girls. This Bible is a hit!

The Faithgirlz Bible, NKJV has all purple text (including the words of Christ) with various dark pink (almost red) accents (headings, chapter numbers, etc.), and is laid out in two columns. This is the NKJV version of the Bible (© 1982). The text is standard size - not large, but not extra small. It does contain some basic footnotes. There is not a presentation page like you might find in many Bibles, but there is a page at the front with plenty of room to add a note or a name if you choose to do so.
There is a brief, single-page introduction for each book of the Bible. Each introduction covers a few basic things about the book (some thoughts about the book, "Who wrote it", "When it was written", "Where it takes place", "Cool characters you'll meet", "Bad guys to watch for", "The point", and "How it connects"). There are also introductions/overviews of the Old Testament and the New Testament.
The Faithgirlz Bible, NKJV has several specific features spread throughout the text.
- "Dream Girl" (helping you to imagine yourself in the events of the Scriptures)
- "Bring It On!" (a quiz-style feature leading you to verses to encourage you)
- "Oh, I Get It!" (a bit of commentary on some things that you might have questions about)
- "Treasure This!" (highlighted verses that would be great for memorization)
- "Is There a Little _____ in You?" (a look at some character traits that you might have in common with people in the Bible)
- "In Your Own Words" (a recap of events and a space to write a summary of events in your own words)
In addition to all the features throughout the text, there are some other features at the back of the Faithgirlz Bible, NKJV.
- "How to Begin a Relationship with Jesus"
- "Through the Bible in a Year" (a checklist and reading plan for reading the entire Bible in 365 days)
- "Promises from the Bible" (some verses to look at that might be helpful in your current situation)
- "Perspectives from the Bible" (some verses to look at regarding specific topics)
- "My Notes" (journaling pages)
I'd say the Faithgirlz Bible, NKJV is probably best for young girls - starting as early as age 6 (if they are reading) and up to the early teens. The only reason I might not suggest it for older teens is the styling may look a bit young, but the content is still great.
All in all, I think the Faithgirlz Bible, NKJV is a fantastic choice for a Bible for a young girl in your life.

The cover is appealing to most girls and the extra features will create more curiosity for young girls to get in their Bibles.
As parents we have to be modeling the Bible reading so that our kids view it as a normal and expected thing that is done each day. Get in God's word and study it...it will change your life!
Thank you Zondervan for sending me this Bible for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are 100% mine and I was not paid for this review.
This Bible retails for $27.99 on Zondervan. It is a hardcover book that would make a great gift for any young girl. (Posted on 11/7/2015)
