Written for children ages four to eight, Christmas Love Letters from God cleverly combines both prose and poetry as the story of Jesus’ birth unfolds. The book includes seven stories, beginning with Isaiah’s prophecy and ending with the visit of the wise men. Following each story, the child will find his or her own letter from God, folded into a small envelope attached to the page. Each letter begins with a space in which to write the child’s name, so each one can be specially addressed to the child.
Written as if God is speaking, each personalized message gives the young reader a sense of wonder as they discover anew the Christmas holiday and the birth of Jesus. A very special Bible verse, entitled God’s Perfect Promise, also accompanies each story and letter as God’s personal words of love, promise, and hope.

This version is a good one in time for Christmas gifts or Christmas reading! I love how the letters look like a really letter with an envelope style.
Each story also has scripture that is highlighted for the story which coincides with the Christmas story.

The story of Christ's birth is told through seven different sections and they begin with the prophesy in Isaiah. After we hear from Isaiah we switch to Mary and her visit from the angel. Glenys' version of the Magnificat is beautiful. Next is Joseph and his dream. And then the couple are off on their trip to Bethlehem. The story of Christ's birth is told in a way that will stick with you for a long time. Then we get the account of the shepherds and finally the wise men.
While this book isn't probably for the littlest ones on their own. (There are flaps for each of the letters that little hands may tear.) It is sure to be a delight for the whole family year after year. We're in the process of replacing some of our oldest Christmas board books and I am absolutely thrilled with this one. Rachel Clowes' art work and Glenys Nellist's words combine to tell the Christmas story accurately yet uniquely. I'm sure that your family will come to love it as much as ours has.
I was provided a copy of this book to facilitate my review. (Posted on 11/10/2016)

There is a special note at the end of each short story that is a Love Letter from God. The author, Glenys Nellist, writes these letters of course, but really they help apply how this is a story that shows how God loved then and still loves us today. These letters are really special and help you understand God’s loving plan behind the birth of Jesus for all the characters involved in the story all the way to us.
I really like the one to after the story about Joseph. It says something about how God is thankful that Joseph said yes to being the earthly father for Jesus and that when God is tugging at your heart, do not be afraid to say yes also and he will be there for us too. This book helps us see how personal this story is to us. We really adore this book!

It is very important for our children to know why there is a Christmas and where it came from. It is very important to know that God sent His son in the form of a baby to save us from our sin. The Christmas Love Letters from God are a very encouraging breath we need during the holidays. They give our children a break from the holiday chaos and bring them to a peaceful center of learning more about this Savior that we all so desperately need.
The Christmas season is the perfect time to just "be". It is a great time to take it all in and enjoy the holiday season with your children. This is the perfect book to do just that.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. (Posted on 10/4/2016)

“Christmas Love Letters” is a Christian fiction children’s picture book, written by Glenys Nellist. The precious pictures were created by Rachel Clowes.
I this storybook, we see seven stories surrounding our Savior’s birth. We have the prophecy of the birth from Isaiah, through to the wise men’s visit. Each story tells what happens and has a little note from the main character/s. There is also a verse for each one, called “God’s Perfect Promise”. And then, a 3-D card “from God”.
There is only one possible problem that I foresee…I’m concerned that a child might have trouble reading the font that has been chosen for the post card, “from God”.
I still love this book and do recommend it for young readers, and those who read to them.
