Big Dreams, Big Prayers Bible for Kids isn't just a Bible. It is also filled with devotions, prayers and highlighted verses to help teach kids how to pray and listen for God's answers to their prayers. The devotions are about people who prayed and listened to God such as Abraham, Hannah and Job.
At the beginning of every book is a page that tells more information on that particular book. It has who wrote it, why it was written and even some of the stories that can be found in that book. My eight-year old has really enjoyed reading these beginning pages and learn more about the books of the Bible. The chapters are easy to navigate. The pages are very clean and the chapters are very clearly marked. Also throughout this Bible you will find highlighted verses. These verses are marked because they reveal specific words about conversations with God. They are perfect for memorizing and for remembering what it means to talk to God.
Throughout the Bible you'll find beautiful color pages like:
• The 10 Commandment for Kids
• The Lords Prayer
• Prayer Is (an easy guide to prayer is to use your hands. Each finger can remind you who to pray for).
• The ABCs of becoming a Christian
In the back of this Bible you will find three reading plans to help guide you in your Bible reading.
Course 1: Introduction to the Bible
Course 2: A Guided Tour of the Bible
Course 3: Every Word In The Bible
Also in the back of the Bible, you'll find a prayer journal. You simply record your prayers to God-and his answers back to you! Later when you read your requests and God's answers to your prayers, you will be encouraged and built up in your faith. (Posted on 3/4/2016)

Prayer is a major tenet of our faith and we spend a lot of time teaching our children about it. The Big Dreams Big Prayers Bible For Kids is such an asset in our family to point out how important it is to incorporate prayer into our daily lives.
From the devotions to the highlighted verses to the extra pages of visually appealing graphics the theme of prayer is carried throughout with the intent of not only teaching children about prayer but also empowering them to incorporate it into their lives.
One of the pages has a visual of a hand and gives a list of five things that you should pray for each day. Thumb: People closest to you. Pointer: People who point the way (leaders, teachers, pastors). Tall Finger: People in authority. Ring Finger: People who are weak. Little Finger: Yourself. You could easily use that model with your children. What a perfect way to teach them to use their prayer time for more than a selfish wish list. How great would it be to have our kids praying for those around them?!!
There is also a very doable reading plan in the back of the book. It is broken down into three different courses. Course 1 is an introduction to the Bible and it spends two weeks each on the Life and Teachings of Jesus, the Life and Teachings of Paul, and finally an overview of the Old Testament. The second course is a Guided Tour Of The Bible. Your child will spend 180 days getting a sweeping look at the Bible from Creation to Revelation. Finally Course 3 is designed for your child to read Every Word In The Bible. A chapter a day is assigned (two chapters are sometimes combined if they are short) with the goal of reading through the entire Bible in three years.
My favorite feature of this new Bible is the Prayer Journal in the back of the book. There is space for your child to list their prayers to God and to also record the answers from God. Wouldn't this make a wonderful keepsake years from now. It would be such a great testimony to God's faithfulness in the big things, little things, and the everyday things.
If you are looking for a new Bible to take your older child to the next level of daily Bible reading and prayer this is an excellent choice.

The Big Dreams, Big Prayers Bible For Kids, NIV has all black text (including the words of Christ) with various teal/turquoise accents (headings, chapter numbers, etc.), and is laid out in two columns. This is the NIV version of the Bible (© 1973, 1978, 1984, 2011). The text is standard size - not large, but not extra small. It does contain some basic footnotes. There are no maps like you might find in many Bibles. After the Table of Contents, there is a helpful page: "What Is Prayer?"
Inside, there is a thick/coated, full color presentation page with a list of the books of the Bible and their genres (poetry, major prophets, minor prophets, etc.) on the back. There are three other thick/coated, full color pages inserted throughout the Bible: "How to use This Bible", "10 Commandments for Kids/The LORD's Prayer", and "Prayer Is.../The ABCs of Becoming a Christian".
There is a brief, single-page introduction for each book of the Bible. Each introduction covers a few basic things about the book which may include: who wrote it, why it was written, for whom it was written, what happens, what we learn about God, key people, what is special about the book, when & where it happened, and a list of some of the stories/important passages in the book.
Some verses throughout are highlighted in teal/turquoise. These are verses that go along with the concept of praying/conversing with God.
There are 98 devotions in the Big Dreams, Big Prayers Bible For Kids, NIV. Each devotion has a verse reference and a devotional style writing. The devotions are fantastic - always tying back to the idea of prayer/conversation with God. There is a list of all of the devotions (in order of appearance) starting on page 1311, and another list (by topic) starting on page 1299.
Additionally, there are three reading plans at the back of the Big Dreams, Big Prayers Bible For Kids, NIV: a 6 week "Introduction to the Bible", a 6 month "Guided Tour of the Bible", and a 3 year "Every Word in the Bible" plan. There are also 9 prayer journaling pages.
With the attractive styling and the gender-neutral colors, I'd say the Big Dreams, Big Prayers Bible For Kids, NIV would be great for either gender and a variety of ages - starting as early as age 6 (if they are reading) and up to the early teens.
The Big Dreams, Big Prayers Bible For Kids, NIV has the basics you need, with some fantastic extras and is a fantastic choice for a Bible for any child in your life.

I love that this bible is for kids but they don't take anything out. There are lots of bibles that are geared towards kids that just use the key bible stories instead of including the entire text. This includes the entire NIV text of the bible. In addition to the full text this bible has lots of great features. I really like the devotionals including with the bible as well.
It was written in a way to help kids really understand them and make them rules they can follow and live by. The words are average sized so they are not too big or too small. The actual bible is about the average size of a regular bible. It doesn't feel too heavy to me but for some kids it may be a bit heavy. I would recommend this bible for kids who read well on their own. Of course we know some of the name and words will be difficult but this would be great for a child between the ages of 8 to 13. It's gender neutral so it isn't geared towards a boy or girl.
Overall this is a great bible. I would rate it 5 stars. (Posted on 1/21/2016)

There are a few full color pages that are used for explaining how to use the Bible and other interesting features, like the ABC’s of salvation and prayer.
one of my favorite features of this Bible is that in the back there is a list of reading plans for your child. The plans range from 2 weeks long to the Word for Word plan which takes 3 years to complete.
It also has prayer journal pages, where your child can write out their prayers and the date that they were answered. It helps kids to see that there prayers do get answers, some a bit quicker than others. The overall emphasis of this Bible is teaching kids to pray. I would recommend this Bible to kids ages 8-12.

The first thing I thought of when I saw it was that it reminded me of all those "Family Rules" signs that are so popular right now with the different colors and fonts and sizes. This continues on the inside as well with the presentation page and books of the Bible.
The other thing I really like is the use of color throughout. There is a really pretty light blue used in a lot of the text that just made it pop.
This page is also an example of the book introductions which is basically a breakdown of who, why, what, when and where. I love the way they used this method to explain the book. It's a really helpful overview.
Another great feature is How to Use this Bible which explains exactly that. While the Bible should be our roadmap for life; sometimes we need an interpreter to read our map! Think of this as that kind of tool. It's great for young kids to have it explained in such simple terms, and for their moms too!
I really like the Big dreams and Big prayers devotions section as well. What better things to have our kids focused on, especially since they go hand in hand!
The Big Dreams Big Prayers Bible focuses on two aspects of life I know I want my kids to focus on that really go together. This would make a great gift for kiddos this Christmas! (Posted on 12/18/2015)

This is a New International Version Bible written for, I would say, mid to older teens. Oh! I really LOVE how this Bible is put together to teach a teen how to pray! The prayers throughout Scripture are highlighted to make them easier to find. They would also make great memory verses. I really like that! There are also prayer devotions, called, “Big Dreams”. In the back of the Bible is a list of them. There’s a topical index and a Read Through the Bible schedule…Both of these have boxes, so you can check off as you read them. “Conversations with God”, also in the back of the Bible, is a prayer journal. It has a place to list prayers and answers to them. I believe this will encourage teenagers to pray more. Of course, each book of the Bible includes an introduction page to tell who wrote the book, when and where it was written, and summary questions of what it will be about. I like this, too.
I like that each Bible purchased helps to translate and send Bibles around the world. I WOULD recommend this Bible to all teens.

This is a nifty Bible! It instructs our children on prayer and it's importance. Perfect for ages 8-12 and is good for a girl or boy. I like it because of the helpful devotions throughout the book. And as always Zonderkidz gives our children the background information on each book of the Bible. A great Bible that I consider a more grown up Bible.
