“Baby Wren and the Great Gift” was sent to me by Zonderkidz – a division of Zondervan Publishing – free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.
“Baby Wren and the Great Gift” was written by Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Jen Corace. It is a children’s book that tells how everyone…even the tiniest bird ...has a purpose on this great earth.

I would recommend this for early readers or for those reading to young children.

This is a powerful story that is going to encourage all readers. We all have gifts and talents and sometimes it is hard to believe we have any. As the story moves along we continue to see thanksgiving of other animals gifts as baby wren realizes she does have gifts. This hard covered book is a quick read that many ages will enjoy. I love the water color pictures that are warm yet bright. By the end of the story we are celebrating Wren and her gifts. It makes it an easy transition to discuss how everyone has different gifts and talents as we are all unique yet all made in the image of God. (Posted on 4/6/2016)

Baby Wren and the Great Gift is a new book written by Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Jen Corace. Sally Lloyd-Jones is the very talented author behind The Jesus Storybook Bible, Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing, The Story of God's Love for You, and many other fantastic books.

Baby Wren and the Great Gift is a hardcover book with a dust jacket. Both the hardcover and the dust jacket feature the illustration shown in the cover image.

As baby wren goes throughout the day, she encounters several other animals doing wonderful things...wonderful things that she cannot do. She begins to wonder what she can do that is great, and at the end of the book discovers her great gift. As with any book by Sally Lloyd-Jones, it is beautifully written and inspiring to read.

The adorable illustrations are very well done and are the perfect addition to a great story. Baby Wren and the Great Gift really is a fantastic book.

Baby Wren and the Great Gift is absolutely beautiful, from the lyrical writing to the gorgeous illustrations. Have you ever looked at the people around you and noticed their amazing talent. Then wondered why you couldn't do what they could? Me too. And as much as I might enjoy listening to a talented pianist or seeing a mathematician solve a complicated problem, I get a bit discouraged. That's where we find Baby Wren. She's discouraged because all the creatures around her can do the most amazing things and she can't. Sally Lloyd-Jones' writing sings as she speaks through this sweet bird and travels with her on her journey of discovery. From page one, I was mesmerized by Jen Corace's illustrations. She knows where to add a perfect pop of color in the yellowness of the canyon. The pink sunset is breathtaking. While Baby Wren may be seeking her special gift, Lloyd-Jones and Corace have found theirs. I recommend this book to be read to pre-school through primary and read by intermediate age children. I also believe adults will enjoy this fabulous book as much as the kids. A must-have on the library's shelves. Five plus stars!

God gives each of His creation special gifts that get right down to the heart of why He created each one of us. And that is a special thing that the Baby Wren learns in the latest release from Sally Lloyd-Jones. She sees and hears the wonderment all around her and she wonders how she fits in and belongs in the majesty of it all. And just as she feels there is no place a song leaps from her heart and she discovers something that God knew was there all along.

A beautiful story of a sweet precious soul trying to find her way in this big, beautiful world!

This book is geared for ages 4-8. It is the perfect read aloud book and has dynamic, colorful illustrations that are phenomenal to look at and will keep children engaged. This is a sweet story that will enlighten children for years to come.
