I have a basic study bible but wanted something that goes into more detail and breaks down what the chapters are about so I could understand them easier. This study bible does just that and gives you more than expected to help you along the way. There is also a concordance in the back to look up anything you are studying about to be able to find it easily in the bible. I love the color maps to show you where certain events took place in that particular time. I have recently really started studying the bible and find this is an easier to understand bible. It comes as a hardcover with a nice protective jacket to keep it from getting messed up. Definitely something every christian needs to have on their bookshelf for daily reading. I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers {http://booklookbloggers.com} book review bloggers program. (Posted on 4/22/2016)

I will go ahead and admit it -- I'm a sucker for study Bibles. When I see one, I want to get it to see how its study notes are different than any other. The MacArthur Study Bible is the "gold standard" in my opinion, so I confess a hardship in trying not to compare others to it.

The NKJV Apply the Word Study Bible is a new release and has some rather positive qualities. First, I really like the name -- apply the Word -- because that is what we should do each and every day. Second, I love (and I mean love) red letter editions because they help as you disciple new Christians to help delineate between narrative events and the words of Jesus. As such, this one does not disappoint. Third, there are good notes within it to point out some words and social/culture components. It does not, however, go into the doctrinal or hermeneutical depths of a MacArthur Study Bible (see...I struggle in avoiding the comparison).

This one is the size of a "normal book" and not the typical Bible -- which is larger than a normal book. To that end, the print is somewhat small and there is not much room for notes to go in the margin. If you need larger print and desire to write notes on the pages, well, this is not the Bible for you.

Still, I can recommend this to you because you cannot go wrong studying God's Word!

First of all, just upon first looking at the book, this is a really nice Bible. It's a hardcover book with a very pretty cover. The cover looks the same when you take the dust jacket off, and I personally love that, and the cover is super shiny and nice. The pages are so soft and sleek and feel nice in my hands, yet they're thick and sturdy enough that I don't feel like the page is going to tear when I flip it. It's organized really well and laid out nicely as well. Also, the words of Jesus are in red, which I really like to see.

Looking inside now, I find the study information inside to be extremely helpful. Whenever a new person appears in the text, there is a little blurb on the page explaining who that person was and summarizing what they did. There is also a lot of extra information explaining terms and events that take place, which I find really helpful in understanding the events. There are cross references near verses where it shows a different related verse to give more information, which helps me in understanding. I'm pretty sure that I say this in all of my Bible reviews, but I am really excited to look through this more and learn more.

Based on my brief browsing of it, I do recommend the NKJV Apply the Word study Bible. I've never read the Bible all the way through, and I'm still learning a lot as I am reading it, so I really like having these study Bibles to help explain things and give me more information. I give it 5/5 stars. (Posted on 2/19/2016)

I am honored to review this particular Study Bible by Thomas Nelson, a favorite publisher of mine. It is a New King James Study Bible, accurately titled “Apply The Word, Live In His Steps”. This bible is loaded with features such as real life application notes and questions, notes on people and places that personally help me keep the context of a passage, book introductions that are more informative than previous study bibles I have owned, words of Jesus in red letter, a concordance, and full color maps. My overall feelings of this bible are nothing but positive. I love the extra study information, the challenging life application segments, and it is easy to use. The introductions of each book also include a list of key events for quick look up when I have forgotten exactly where specific scriptures are located in the book. The font is big enough for me to read without an issue, but it may be on the smaller side for others. I love hardcover books and this one is no different, it is durable, the pages are thick enough to write on and not show through, and it can still fit in my medium sized purse for taking to church or bible study. I would definitely recommend this bible to others. I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. (Posted on 2/19/2016)

This will be a review of the hardcover edition of the © Apply The Word Study Bible-Live in His Steps (NKJV). On my website, bibleresolute.com, I have added pictures in the review for those of us who need and enjoy the visual representation of what’s inside the Bible itself.

The size of the Bible is that of a personal Study Bible, approximately 8.75 inches by 5.5 inches and the words of Jesus are in red.

I personally love the New King James Version, but I understand there are some out there that may not enjoy this translation. I have used many translations over the past 24 years of Bible Study, and the NKJV remains one of my favorites.

At the beginning of each book of the Bible, there is an introduction section for that particular book of the Bible, along with Key Events. In Matthew, for example, there are thirteen (13) noted Key Events that the Publishers wanted to highlight for the reader.

This is a nice feature if you are looking for a quick reference to the major points or highlights for a particular book of the Bible.

Jammed packed throughout the entire Bible are colored sections for the student and reader of the Bible.

Blue is Personal Biographical Information. Orange is Practical Points, Life Application Points, and Challenges for the Christian to learn to grow and strengthen their faith. Green is City Locations.

There are 8 full color maps in the back of the Bible, along with a Concordance that has a decent amount of information

I found the Apply The Word Study Bible (NKJV) will be useful for Teenagers and Adults. Using the Orange Practical Points as a springboard, I believe it can be an effective tool for the Bible Teacher and Small Group Leader.

With all the colors being used in the Bible, I found that there is a slight bleed through, but nothing too distracting. If you enjoy writing in your Bible, then I would recommend using ® Pigma Micron Pen. With the amount of information inside the Bible, there is not a whole lot of room for note writing. If you don’t write in your Bible, it’s not going to be an issue, but I can understand having little writing room as being a deterrent for some.

The font is small, but honestly, it’s pretty standard for a Bible that is personal size. I personally wear bifocals when I read, so even if the font was a 24 size, I would still need to wear my glasses. Like with any Bible, the font is always an issue for people, with or without glasses. Again, I find the font acceptable for the size of the Bible, especially with the amount of information the Publishers packed into this Bible.

I fully recommend this Bible and give it 4.5 out of 5 Stars (I cannot do a half-a-star on this site). It does not receive 5 Stars simply because of the lack of writing room and slight bleed through of the pages. As discussed, the smaller font may be an issue for some, but I will not deduct points simply because I find this font normal for the size of the Bible.
